Acne, which stands for 'Ambition to Create Novel Expressions', was
established in Stockholm in 1996 as a Creative Consultancy. The
ambition was to create and develop a lifestyle brand through desirable
products, as well as helping others build their brands, this led to a
number of projects in Fashion, Advertising, Entertainment and
Technology industries.
In 1997 Acne's forward thinking led to 100 pairs of raw denim unisex
jeans with signature red stitching being designed and distributed to
friends, family and clients. The jeans caught the attention of Swedish
Elle magazine and soon they were being sold in Sweden's leading
boutiques. The full collection launched a year later with cool,
understated pieces that set the tone for the brand. "Fashion is the
best form of self-expression. We like to design pieces that together
form the coolest wardrobe, but is ultimately wearable", explains Jonny Johansson, Acne's Creative Director.
