The Denim Shirt

A denim shirt is a super versatile piece that is so easy to wear.  I always feel nicely styled and smart in one yet not overdone and its as easy to wear casually on the weekend as it is to dress it up for a night out, so its a piece that works hard in my wardrobe all year round.

Come summer I like to wear it open and layered over my favourite t-shirt and jean outfit, over a bikini down to to the beach, or as a great cover-up over leggings post Pilates class. As Cape Town can be super chilly in the evenings, wearing a denim shirt with some cropped tailored black trousers and heels or a nice slip skirt and sandals, is a great way to style it up.

I particularly love the Rails denim shirts for this time of year as they are so lightweight and the paler blue hues look great styled with white denim which is lovely for Summer.

The Re/Done Sawtooth shirt is a classic menswear inspired denim shirt with the stitch detailing on the pockets and pearl snap buttons.  This shirt is so cool in the light vintage indigo simply paired with leather shorts.

Mother Denim offer great denim shirts season after season and their latest Oversized shirt in Spilled Salt is a super cool relaxed piece, whilst the Honey has the most amazing embroidery detail on the back making it truly unique.
